Process Engineer – Assembly | Johor Bahru, Johor | Shape New Automotive Project Launches
This is a chance to take new automotive wiper system projects from quotation through to production launch for a global automotive components manufacturer in Johor.
About the client
Mills Recruitment is partnering with a leading global automotive components manufacturer to hire a Process Engineer – Assembly based at its manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, supporting assembly process development for automotive wiper systems.
The role
- Design, develop and optimise assembly and machining processes for automotive wiper systems, including welding and automated assembly lines.
- Prepare and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans and Technical Review documents in line with project milestones.
- Review customer SOR packages and quotation documents, assess manufacturability and support process-related cost quotations.
- Design and develop fixtures, jigs and gauges for transmission assemblies to ensure production accuracy and efficiency.
- Install, commission, test and accept tooling to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Support prototype builds, process validation and troubleshooting through to production launch.
- Coordinate with internal teams and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, process stability and product quality.
About you
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of assembly process engineering experience (5+ years of automotive process engineering preferred).
- Hands-on experience in assembly, machining, welding or automated production lines, including new product introduction (NPI).
- Proven experience in fixture, jig and gauge design, including installation, commissioning and validation.
- Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS or other 3D modelling software, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA and Control Plans, and the ability to review SOR documents and customer technical specifications.
- English proficiency for technical communication, documentation and customer coordination.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer and supplier visits.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with a Tier 1 supplier or automotive OEM.
- Experience in automotive wiper systems, transmission assemblies or related automotive components.
- Experience supporting automotive new product launches.
- Familiarity with automated assembly equipment and tooling development.
