We are seeking qualified and/or experienced Automotive Technicians and Diesel Motor Mechanics to join a well-established, high-performing workshop team in Central Otago.
These are full-time, permanent roles working across modern workshop environments, with opportunities in both general automotive servicing and heavier commercial work.
About the Roles: We are looking for technicians who can deliver a high standard of servicing, diagnostics, and repairs while maintaining excellent customer service. (Light & Heavy Commercial)
Work will cover a mix of:
- Light vehicle servicing and repair
- Diesel and heavy vehicle work
- Commercial fleet maintenance
- Breakdowns and roadside assistance when required
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently and accurately
- Service vehicles to a high standard, including preventative maintenance
- Prioritise work and communicate with customers regarding repairs and approvals
- Order parts accurately to minimise downtime and costs
- Complete job cards thoroughly, clearly documenting time, parts, and work performed
- Carry out minor electrical and electronic diagnostics and repairs
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop
- Follow manufacturer service schedules and industry standards
- Assist with bookings, customer enquiries, and walk-in jobs as required
- Attend breakdowns or roadside callouts when needed
What You’ll Bring:
Qualifications (preferred)
- NZ Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 4) or
- NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 4)
- OR overseas equivalent
Experience:
- Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or Diesel Mechanic
- Apprenticeships/MITO training also considered
- Strong diagnostic capability across a range of vehicles
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Team player with a positive, professional attitude
- Solid understanding of NZ automotive industry standards
Additional Requirements:
- Experience using scan tools and diagnostic equipment
- Basic computer skills (email, parts ordering systems)
- Full clean driver’s licence (heavy licence advantageous but not essential)
