About Our Client
Our client is a globally established engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) organisation with an extensive track record delivering major projects worldwide. Known for the quality of their people and a strong focus on successful project outcomes, they align their capabilities to customer objectives across sectors including infrastructure, energy, and mining & resources, with services spanning early planning and investment through to start-up and operations.

About the Business
This role sits within a well-established mining and resources-focused business, delivering engineering, procurement, and construction services across a range of commodities for major international clients, with project delivery capability spanning multiple regions globally.
The Opportunity Our client is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to support the non-routine cost engineering, planning, and scheduling needs of its projects. You’ll build stakeholder relationships, lead schedule analysis and integration, identify constraints, quantify risk, monitor cost and performance, recommend alternatives, and deliver training sessions and workshops — bringing every strand of a project together into seamless execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements, or work requiring a high degree of technical skill
  • Apply innovative thinking to solve complex cost engineering challenges
  • Develop and implement project cost control requirements in line with organisational and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures
  • Ensure work is delivered on schedule, supporting broader project organisational and administrative activities
  • Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons
  • Review cost trends for effectiveness and recommend alternatives where appropriate
  • Maintain open communication across the organisation to support cost engineering analysis and control

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) plus 10+ years’ relevant experience, or 14+ years’ relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience directing project cost engineering, including cost control and analysis, cost reporting, incurred cost assessment, and running meetings
  • Experience establishing criteria for Project Controls cost activities, and in cost/commitment and incurred cost analysis and management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management and clients
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes within a comparable large-scale EPC/EPCM environment
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management gained through specialised training or practical experience
  • Full Australian working rights are required — this role is not supported by employer sponsorship
