About the firm
Our client is an independent boutique law firm in Perth, acting for mid-market businesses and high-net-worth individuals across corporate and commercial, transactions, and disputes.
The role
We’re looking for a capable, commercially minded family lawyer to join a growing practice.
This role suits a lawyer who enjoys complex, strategic matters and wants to work beyond the usual boundaries of family law.
You’ll work alongside the commercial, tax, litigation, and insolvency, reconstruction and turnaround teams to deliver practical, joined-up outcomes for clients. It’s a chance to build a family law practice with strong internal referral pathways and exposure to matters that are often more commercially complex than a traditional family law file. The firm is selective about the work it takes on and focused on strategic, commercially sensible results.
The work
You’ll work across a broad range of family law matters, including:
- Property settlements involving business structures, trusts and complex asset pools
- Financial agreements
- Parenting matters
- Spouse maintenance matters
- Negotiated settlements and strategic dispute resolution
- Family law matters arising alongside commercial transactions, insolvency events, succession planning and estate disputes
- Advising with the commercial and tax teams on asset structuring, tax and business issues that affect family law outcomes
- Court proceedings where required
You’ll work directly with senior lawyers and have the chance to help shape and grow the firm’s family law offering.
Skills and experience
You’ll have:
- Approximately 3–6 years’ PAE in family law
- Strong technical and drafting skills
- Confidence managing your own matters with senior lawyer oversight
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience dealing directly with clients in emotionally sensitive situations
- A practical, commercial and solutions-focused approach
- Sound judgement on risk, strategy and client management
- The ability to work collaboratively with lawyers across practice areas
- Initiative and a real focus on client outcomes
What’s on offer
- Competitive salary packages and generous bonus structures
- Flexible working arrangements
- Low billable targets
- Quality work and direct client exposure
- External learning and development opportunities
- Real collaboration across practice areas
- The chance to help build and grow a practice area within the firm
