You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.

You will solve complex technical issues and ensure layout design comply with all regulations and standards.
 
Major Responsibilities:

• Administers work of Piping designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
• Develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems and components used in mining, materials handling and refining facilities with minimum supervision.
• Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
• Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved Mechanical/ Piping design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Ensures layout systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
• Participates in constructability and model reviews.
• Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design team efforts and processes.
• Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
• Reviews Mechanical/ Piping design scope changes, as required, for project management.
• Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline uses

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Diploma in relevant engineering discipline or expert course in drafting, design and engineering practices.
• Typically requires 8-10 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
• Experience with multi discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
• Intelligent piping modelling using Smart3D and experience with isometric generation and checking is essential
• Experience with modelling of common mechanical equipment and Piping on mining and metals projects, including interfaces of equipment with other disciplines.
• Expertise in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
• Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
