Our client is an established Western Australian heavy equipment and plant hire business operating from a workshop in the southern suburbs they run a Caterpillar mobile plant and earthmoving fleet. They’re offering a workshop role with steady weekday hours and a genuine pathway to a permanent position, for someone who wants to step away from FIFO and still work on serious gear.
Your New Role
Working from the Naval Base workshop, you’ll keep the client’s Caterpillar fleet in service. Your work will cover servicing, diagnostics, repairs and major component work across heavy mobile plant and earthmoving equipment.
- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy mobile plant
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs and component replacements
- Troubleshoot and fault-find across Caterpillar equipment
- Complete inspections and identify upcoming maintenance requirements
- Assist with major repairs and workshop-based component work
- Keep accurate service and maintenance records
- Work with supervisors and other trades to get equipment back to work safely and efficiently
About You
You’ll need:
- A trade qualification as a Heavy Duty / Mobile Plant Mechanic, recognised in Australia or New Zealand
- Strong hands-on experience with Caterpillar mobile plant and earthmoving equipment
- Sound diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
- A current Australian driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights
- The ability to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
It would be great if you also have:
- A background in heavy equipment, mining, civil, construction or plant hire
With a 6am start in Naval Base, this role suits someone with an easy commute to the Kwinana / Cockburn area.
What’s On Offer
- $60.00 per hour + superannuation
- Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm (approx. 50 hours per week)
- Local workshop role in Naval Base with no FIFO
