The Opportunity

Mills Recruitment have been engaged by a rapidly growing and widely respected Accounting Practice to source a Senior Manager / Associate Director. It is expected that the incoming individual will take on a role as the firm’s next Equity Partner over time. With a growing practice of over 300 staff  nationally covering Tax, Business Advisory and the SMSF work of those key  clients, the company is looking for someone with high-level managerial qualities and integrity as well as business acumen and an ability to bring in new clients and foster relationships with existing.

Key responsibilities:-

Client Focus

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with portfolio of high net wealth clients and family groups, establishing yourself as a valued and active contributor to their financial wellbeing.
  • Act as an initial point of contact for tax and business advisory queries, ensuring their prompt acknowledgement and response.
  • Facilitate client meetings in a manner that demonstrates genuine curiosity, a desire to listen and learn about the client’s financial circumstances and displays an appreciation for the best way to communicate and ensure the client understands the information being shared.

Advice

  • Display an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge and ability to perform a range of duties in relation to tax and business advisory services, including:
    • Strategic business advice including succession planning and estate planning
    • Accurate, timely and compliant preparation of financial reports, income tax returns, BSS/FBT returns, activity statements and work papers
    • Preparation of file notes, special purpose reports and correspondence to the ATO
    • Set-up new structures, arrange statutory registrations and related document management activities
    • Prepare family group projections
  • Perform and/or oversee a range of administrative activities to support the facilitation of client requirements.
  • Undertake research and analysis into legislation, case law and ATO rulings to ensure an up-to-date and correct application of tax legislation. 
  • Work in conjunction with the advice team to provide proactive and strategic advice. 
  • Manage a teams workload, fee budgets, fees, business development and client interactions
  • Prepare and review income tax returns and financial statements for a variety of clients
  • Provide tax and business planning advice to client

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience with high level accounting and tax work experience
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, ability to handle conflict and negotiations
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong project management, research and tax compliance experience
