Coreyard Technician – Base Metals Operations

$52.00 per hour flat rate + Super | 8/6 Roster 
Immediate Start | 2-Month Contract

Join a supportive geology team as a Coreyard Technician at a leading base metals operation. This is a hands-on, site-based role that supports the geological team in processing and preparing drill core samples.

You’ll work primarily in the core yard, managing the movement, photography, cutting, and sampling of core to ensure everything is handled safely, efficiently, and accurately. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and wants to contribute to the success of exploration and production projects.

About the Role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day handling and processing of drill core within the site’s core yard, working closely with geologists and other technicians to maintain sample integrity and high standards of data quality.

Key duties include:

• Processing drill core – metre marking, orientation checks, recoveries, and RQD measurements
• Core photography using Imago software
• Core cutting using diamond saws and preparation for sampling
• Core sampling and dispatch preparation
• Accurate record-keeping and data entry (experience with LogChief advantageous but not essential)
• Maintaining a tidy, safe, and well-organised core yard environment

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a core yard, exploration, or geological support role
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on, repetitive work
• Good computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems
• Team-oriented, safety-focused, and reliable
• Current Driver’s Licence (Forklift Licence advantageous but not essential)
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and DAS
