About the Role
Due to a recent team change, we’re seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering services provider working across major projects and brownfield sustaining works in the mining and resources sector.
This is a key leadership position responsible for managing the mechanical engineering discipline team and overseeing delivery of quality engineering outcomes across a portfolio of projects.

About You

• 15+ years’ relevant design experience in the resources sector
• 5+ years’ experience in a senior or lead design role within multi-disciplined engineering projects for an engineering services organisation
• Highly skilled across all aspects of materials handling
• Familiarity with major Tier 1 mining company systems and procedures (e.g. BHP, Rio Tinto, Fortescue) highly regarded
• Willingness to undertake occasional site visits
• Highly organised, professional, and trustworthy, with a track record of delivering on expectations
• Clear, confident communicator, both written and verbal

The Role
In addition to taking design responsibility for selected projects, you will:

• Provide technical oversight, checking and sign-off of discipline deliverables
• Contribute to estimating and estimating norms
• Manage resource allocation across projects
• Monitor discipline budgets and progress, and support recovery planning
• Support team growth, capability development, and recruitment
• Drive development, deployment and continuous improvement of tools, systems and processes

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders including the GM Engineering, Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, and Lead Discipline Engineers/Designers, playing a central role within a collaborative engineering team.
