MC Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator | Night Shift | Christmas Island | Immediate Start

Mills Recruitment is seeking experienced MC Drivers / Multi-Skilled Plant Operators for an exciting night shift mining project on Christmas Island. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation supporting the creation of a 100,000-ton phosphate stockpile ahead of the upcoming wet season.

We’re looking for experienced operators who are equally comfortable behind the wheel of a side tipper road train and operating a range of heavy mobile plant within a mining environment.

About the Role
Working on a dedicated night shift, you’ll be responsible for hauling phosphate between remote mining pits and a central stockpile, while also operating heavy earthmoving equipment as required. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role where flexibility and mining experience are essential.

What’s on Offer

• Up to $75.00 per hour (Flat Rate)
• Night Shift – Approximately 3:00 pm to 1:00 am (hours to be confirmed)
• 13-day fortnight (every second Sunday off)
• 6-8 week project with potential for extension
• Accommodation provided

• Immediate mobilisation

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MC Road Trains with side tipper combinations safely and efficiently.
• Transport phosphate from remote pits to the central stockpile.
• Operate a range of heavy mobile plant as required.
• Complete daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Work safely in accordance with site procedures and mining safety standards.
• Assist across site operations as part of a multi-skilled team.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Current MC Driver’s Licence.
• Extensive mine site experience.
• Proven experience operating MC Side Tipper Road Trains.
• Current competencies and practical operating experience on the following plant:
  • Excavators
  • Articulated Dump Trucks (Moxy/ADT)
  • Front End Loaders
  • D9 Dozers
  • Water Carts
  • Vibrating Rollers
• Strong commitment to safety with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
