PLC Programming Engineer | Johor Bahru, Johor | Commission Automated Motor Assembly Lines

About the client
Mills Recruitment is partnering with a leading global automotive components manufacturer to hire a PLC Programming Engineer based at its manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, supporting the commissioning of automated motor assembly lines and robotic systems.
The role
- Verify programs and carry out electrical testing and commissioning of automated equipment, both before factory delivery and after on-site installation.
- Troubleshoot PLCs, servo motors, HMI systems and electrical control systems during installation and commissioning.
- Support the commissioning of automotive motor assembly lines, robotic systems and customised automation equipment.
- Provide electrical after-sales technical support to keep equipment running reliably.
- Prepare initial process workflows, operating requirements and critical technical parameters for new equipment.
- Record commissioning issues and equipment parameters, and maintain electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Work with Electrical Engineers and R&D teams on new equipment development and technical issue resolution.
About you
Must-haves:
- Diploma or above in Electrical Automation, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of electrical commissioning experience on automated equipment, plus 2 years of PLC programming experience (5+ years preferred).
- Ability to carry out electrical commissioning, testing and troubleshooting independently.
- Proficiency with Siemens S7-1200 PLC, Variable Frequency Drives, servo tuning software and serial communication debugging tools.
- Knowledge of HMI systems, including Weintek and Pro-face.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with automotive motor assembly lines or non-standard automation equipment (highly preferred).
- Experience commissioning servo systems such as Delta, ABB or Inovance.
- Experience with industrial robots such as Yamaha, Yaskawa, Inovance or Estun.
- Team management experience.
