We’re partnering with a well-established local government organisation in Perth’s northern suburbs to find a reliable General Hand for their Engineering Maintenance team.
This is an initial contract position with the opportunity to go permanent, full-time opportunity offering job security, a strong safety culture, and the chance to work on infrastructure that directly benefits a growing community.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll carry out day-to-day engineering maintenance across drainage and transportation assets — helping keep roads, drainage networks and related infrastructure safe and well-maintained. It’s varied, physical, outdoor work as part of a close-knit crew.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake daily engineering maintenance of infrastructure assets across drainage and transportation
- Operate multi-function plant and equipment to complete maintenance tasks
- Maintain tools, plant and equipment, and report any damage, defect or loss
- Liaise with colleagues, contractors and members of the public
- Process documentation including timesheets and work orders
- Support and mentor new employees within the work group
- Apply Work Health & Safety practices, including hazard identification, across all activities
- Undertake duties as directed by the Coordinator, Supervisor or Leading Hand
About you
- MR class vehicle license
- Ability to operate multi-function plant and equipment
- Knowledge of engineering maintenance procedures
- Experience using information systems and technology
- Capable of physical, manual labour and working as part of a team
- Construction induction (White/Blue Card)
- Year 10 level education with passes in Maths and English
Highly regarded:
- HR class vehicle license
- Relevant plant/equipment operation tickets
- MRWA Basic Worksite Traffic Management and/or Traffic Controller accreditation
- Confined Space, Gas Testing and First Aid certifications
