Our client is a full-service commercial law firm in Perth, in practice for more than 30 years and acting for business clients across Western Australia. The dispute resolution and litigation team is led by a director with over 25 years’ experience. Like the other directors and the wider team, they’re down-to-earth and approachable, and they back the people they work with. The team is known for commercial judgement as much as legal skill: lawyers who understand how a dispute affects a business and advise with that in mind, handling everything from straightforward debt recovery to complex multi-party commercial litigation.

The opportunity
We’re looking for a Litigation Associate with 4+ years’ post-admission experience to join a busy dispute resolution and litigation practice. You’ll carry your own matters, deal directly with clients, and work alongside directors, special counsel and associates who’ll back you when you need it.

The work
You’ll advise on and run a broad mix of commercial disputes, including:

• Director, shareholder and partnership disputes
• Commercial litigation and advocacy across courts and tribunals
• Insolvency, winding-up applications and debt recovery
• Business sale disputes and guarantee liability matters
• Mediation, negotiation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution

About you

• 4+ years’ post-admission experience in litigation and dispute resolution
• Admitted in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, or eligible for admission
• Solid technical skills across pleadings, interlocutory applications, evidence and advocacy
• Commercial judgement and an ability to keep the client’s business objectives in view
• Confident running your own matters and building client relationships
• Strong drafting, communication and file management
• Happy working as part of a small team
