About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, deploy and maintain software applications and digital platforms supporting our construction, automotive and industrial operations. This is an office-based role at our Collie, WA site, working closely with management, operations, project delivery, procurement, finance, sales, marketing and external technology providers.
You’ll translate operational and business requirements into secure, maintainable and scalable software solutions — developing frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, data models, system integrations, reporting solutions and workflow automation, while maintaining clear technical documentation and reliable production support.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Consulting with directors, managers and operational users to identify business needs and digital improvement opportunities
- Gathering, analysing and documenting functional and non-functional requirements
- Translating business requirements into technical designs, architecture, data models and implementation plans
- Developing responsive frontend applications using JavaScript, React, Vue.js, HTML5 and CSS3
- Building backend services and RESTful APIs using Java/Spring Boot, Python or Node.js
- Designing and maintaining databases using SQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Integrating internal applications with CRM, finance, document-management and third-party platforms
- Developing data-processing, reporting and dashboard solutions using BI tools where appropriate
- Managing source code with Git, and supporting CI/CD via Jenkins, Webpack or equivalent
- Deploying and maintaining applications on AWS or Azure
- Applying authentication, authorisation, encryption and access-control best practices
- Conducting unit, integration, system, regression, performance and UAT testing
- Providing post-deployment support and driving continuous improvement across business-critical systems

- Relevant professional experience in software engineering, full-stack development, web application development, backend systems or business application delivery

- Experience with backend development and RESTful APIs (Java/Spring Boot, Python, Node.js or similar)
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar)
- Experience with Git, testing, debugging, deployment and cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
- Eligibility to work in Australia, or ability to meet relevant visa and sponsorship requirements
Desirable:
- Experience in industrial, construction, automotive, engineering, field-service or asset-management environments
- Experience with PRDs, release planning or technical product delivery
- Experience with CMS/portal technologies (e.g. Drupal) and reusable frontend components
- Familiarity with BI/data-visualisation tools (e.g. FineBI, FineVis)
