Mills Recruitment are currently looking to hire a Sub-Contract Specialist for a major project in Brisbane
THE ROLE
This is a genuinely two-sided role. On formation, you’ll build bid request packages from the ground up and run the process through to execution. On administration, you’ll hold the contracts once they’re live — tracking progress, forecasting, and flagging difficulties before they become disputes.
YOU WILL
- Prepare bidders’ lists and pre-qualify bidders
- Form and issue bid request packages to approved bidders, and coordinate bidder questions and responses
- Receive and commercially evaluate bids, prepare Commercial Bid Summaries and recommendations
- Secure approvals in line with established procedures and prepare contract documents for execution
- Direct negotiations in the commitment of contracts
- Coordinate package stakeholders across safety, engineering, project controls, construction, quality and risk
- Organise and chair pre-bid, bid clarification and pre-award meetings, and issue notes covering key positions, actions and schedules
- Maintain continual review of contract progress, reporting projected financial or technical difficulties to management
- Manage moderately complex contract changes through to negotiated settlement
- Coordinate with project staff on operational activity affecting contractual rights, obligations and performance
- Implement the Package List and applicable Standard Work Process Procedures
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree and 10–12 years’ contract formation and administration experience, ideally in a project environment
- Track record on large, moderately complex construction and services contracts
- Exposure to a wide range of contract types and pricing arrangements, up to $100m in value
- Strong change management background — RFIs, change notices, change orders, amendments, claims and dispute resolution
- Experience negotiating Australian terms and conditions and variations
- The communication skills to work effectively across every level of a project team
