About Mills Recruitment New Zealand
At Mills Recruitment, people are at the heart of everything we do.
We’re a specialist recruitment agency with a strong reputation for connecting great people with great businesses across Agriculture & Agribusiness, Agri-Manufacturing, Civil & Construction, and Engineering.
We pride ourselves on building genuine relationships, delivering exceptional service, and doing what we say we’ll do. Our Recruitment Consultants are also SEEK Recommended Recruiters, reflecting the high standard of candidate and client experience we deliver.
As our presence continues to grow across South Canterbury, we’re looking for someone who shares our values and enjoys working with people.
About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Recruitment Coordinator to join our team on a three-month fixed-term contract.
Due to continued growth across Timaru and surrounding areas, we’re looking for someone to provide valuable on-the-ground support to our Christchurch and Queenstown-based team. Our Recruitment Consultants and Candidate Manager are regularly in the region but can’t always be there full-time — this is where you come in.
You’ll be our local presence when needed, conducting face-to-face interviews, assisting with PPE distribution, and delivering first-day inductions. There will be times when you’ll interview candidates alongside the Recruitment Consultants, and other times when you’ll confidently conduct interviews independently.
During busy periods, you may be completing back-to-back interviews, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys meeting new people, builds rapport quickly, and stays organised while working at pace.
This is a hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is happy to roll up their sleeves to support a growing presence in South Canterbury.
This is a flexible role, with hours varying depending on recruitment activity. Some weeks may only require around 5 hours, while busier periods could see 15–20 hours. Because recruitment can move quickly, we’re looking for someone who is responsive, adaptable, and available as required.
While we aim to schedule most activity during standard business hours, there will occasionally be times when interviews or inductions are required outside the 8.00am–5.00pm workday.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct face-to-face interviews with candidates
- Confidently conduct interviews independently when required
- Schedule and coordinate interviews
- Complete interview notes and provide feedback to the Recruitment Consultant
- Assist with issuing and collecting PPE
- Deliver first-day inductions for new starters
- Represent Mills Recruitment professionally when meeting candidates and attending local sites
- Maintain accurate interview records and update our CRM
- Provide on-the-ground support to our Christchurch-based recruitment team
- Assist with general recruitment administration and coordination
About You We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and takes pride in creating a positive experience for every candidate they meet.
You’ll be someone who:
- Enjoys meeting new people and quickly builds rapport
- Is confident conducting interviews and communicating with people from all walks of life
- Is organised, reliable, and has strong attention to detail
- Is proactive, responsive, and able to adapt as priorities change
- Can work independently while staying closely connected with a wider team
- Has strong communication and administration skills
- Is flexible with availability and understands that recruitment activity can change at short notice
- Is happy to occasionally work outside standard business hours when interviews or inductions are required
- Represents Mills Recruitment professionally and takes pride in delivering a great candidate experience
Experience in recruitment, HR, administration, customer service, hospitality, construction, engineering, or another people-focused role would be highly regarded. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong organisation skills, and a genuine passion for working with people.
A current full NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport are essential, as you’ll be travelling throughout Timaru and the surrounding areas.
