POSITION GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The primary goals of the general manager include:-
- To set the standard for the other employees through excellent communication, work ethic, positive attitude, consistency, adaptability, integrity, leadership and motivation, and problem-solving skills.
- For the business to achieve the objectives set out in the Mission Statement
- To collaborate with the Sales Manager to achieve their goals and objectives, including generating the sales and gross profit required to achieve the targets
- To collaborate with the Production, Installation and Logistics Manager to achieve their goals and objectives, including the desired level of production, and installation of the product consistent with the tender standard
- To collaborate with the administrator to achieve their goals and objectives, including the recording and generation of accurate information to assist in the management and analysis of the business and to meet statutory requirements.
- To display business acumen and have an on-going awareness of the total industry, from building projects coming on-line, competitors’ activities, other opportunities outside of the normal, and factors affecting the market.
POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Budgeting and Achievement
- To generate annual budgets including:-
- Profit and Loss
- Cashflow
- Sales and required manufacturing volumes
- Gross profits
- Employee Costs
- Capital Expenditure
- To achieve the targeted profitability through the realization of the targets
- To maintain other costs to the budgeted profit and loss targets
The general manager will report to the directors each month with a minimum of:
- A full set of accounts (month-end and year-to-date )
- A cashflow forecast including current and expected debtors and creditors
- A list of projects in the system, what stage they are at, and what payment has been received against the tender amount
- A list of projects that have been tendered and their gross profit
- A list of projects that have not been tendered but are expected to transpire in the near, mid-term and distant future
Business Growth
With the Sales Manager:
- To continually explore avenues that will enhance the sales and growth of the business
- To provide a level of service to the clients to ensure longevity and growth of relationships
Manufacture and Installation
With the Production, Installation and Logistics Manager:
- To manufacture and install tendered products based on the tendered standards, and to do so within the cost restraints
- To manufacture the products to the standard of the tender and within the cost analysis
- To install the products in a timely and professional manner
- To maintain the standards of the factory, plant and equipment, fixtures and fittings and stock-on-hand to the level required by the directors
- To continually explore avenues that will enhance the productivity of the manufacture and fit-out
Employment
- To include the key people in the understanding of the business and form a team that can problem solve through difficult trading periods and when thinking outside the square is required.

POSITION EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
The requirements of the position include:-
- A background that displays proven results in the key areas described in this position description
- Preferably manufacturing experience in the building sector
- Preferably sales and marketing experience in the building sector, including the tendering process
- Proven people skills
- Strong financial skills in relation to budgeting and achievement of budgets
- Proven administration ability.
Employment Status
The position is a full-time salaried position. The hours of work are whatever are required from time to time to achieve the goals and objectives of the position, however, the expected hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.00pm on a Friday, with Saturday mornings as required by work demands.
The position attracts the statutory leave entitlements outlined in the National Employment Standards (NES) such as:
- Annual leave
- Personal leave (Sick Leave and Carers Leave )
- Long service leave
- All other statutory leave
Remuneration Package
The remuneration is as determined by the directors from time-to-time. The below figures are the remuneration at April 2026.
The package comprises:-
- A base salary of $140,000pa
- A company vehicle (Toyota RAV 4 or similar )
- Superannuation at the Superannuation Guarantee rate at the time (currently 12% )
- A profit share to be discussed
